Castorwax® NF meets National Formulary specifications. Solid wax (m.p.~86°C). Vegetable-derived, odorless, tasteless. In the oil phase of O/W emulsions it functions as an internal phase thickener and emollient. It can provide an occlusive barrier and reduces transepidermal water loss, hydrates the skin through humectancy via hydrogen bonding between water and the material’s hydroxyl groups. (Flake Form) It can be used in topical drug products, stick applications, SPF applications, creams and lotions.
